This Season, It’s Local, Independent…and Heartfelt.

The holiday gift-giving season kicked off with shopping the Bucktown Bazaar and lining up the knitting projects this weekend! I usually go the homemade route, but this year, I’m especially intent on shopping more of my favorite neighborhood shops, craft fairs, and Etsy artisans for holiday cheer.

Perfectly timed, my friend Ann posted a great handmade article on her blog, Magical Grammar today. She features a number of great shopping ideas, and I recommend swinging by her shop as well. Her range of hand-knits and embroidered pieces are warm and warm-hearted.

And while on the subject of warm hearts, The Sweatshop of Love posted a tribute our dear friend Stefanie that struck a chord, reminding me of the special bond you share in making and giving your own, beautiful handmade gifts. Stef will live on in her music and art, her laugh, and her infectious positive light. Let us all be able to share what we can and use her creativity as a guide. Thanks for the reminder, Allyson.

Well said. // photo courtesy of Magical Grammar.
